Last October, I activated “Heed The Need” for Makayla. It’s been 4 long months since my last post and regrettably, I feel this post is way overdue.
Makayla is 6 years old, and as you may know, has been battling a brain tumor since last July. With the help of Makayla’s sponsor, Christine from @c.r.a.v.i.n.g.s., our team effort has allowed us to almost hit our goal. Heed The Need for Makayla originally ran from October 1st to December 31st. So many of you purchased products, donated change, and/or reached way down deep into your hearts and just gave. I am incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from so many people. And, most of these donations were from complete strangers. Thus, we are close to that goal, but not there yet.
Your stories and courage have been incredibly inspiring to me. I’ve met individuals who are cancer survivors themselves share their personal stories, and in turn give graciously. Getting choked up and fighting back the tears has been an ongoing event for me, as I’ve watched people approach me from across the room to hand me money for Makayla. Witnessing customers shock and sadness when they read Makayla’s story has made me want to “come apart” all over again. However, my faith has been restored in humanity.
I believe when we set goals, it turns dreams into reality. Goals set intention. Goals give us something to strive for and it continues to keep that “fire” lit which resides within us all. For every online purchase, I will continue to donate $1 of every bag in your order. Not only will you get a face-lift to your spice cabinet, you’ll be helping a little girl in need. Unfortunately, money won’t make Makayla well again, however your support towards her cancer treatments will certainly soften the financial blow. At the beginning of this February, I’ve opened Heed The Need for Makayla to continue as long as necessary. When purchases are made on our website, your support will go towards the goal.
Determined to hit my original goal to raise $1000, I’ve decided to extend Heed The Need for Makayla.
Please know that helping others in need is my hearts desire. Heed The Need came as a “whisper” in my ear at the same time Sweet Is The Spice was in conception. I knew then, that it was by faith alone that I could give to others even though I had not made one dime. My small business still has not profited, however has managed to sustain itself with faith. “Faith is not believing that God can, it is knowing that God will”.
As a “thank you”, for all of your support, Christine and I have decided to host a GIVEAWAY on Instagram starting February 16th-February 23rd! We have connected with several other businesses who have generously donated products as a way to help support my Heed The Need program.
